One fox, 200 female mountain bikers and a gnarly downhill course is the ultimate recipe for an exciting race. That’s exactly what Red Bull Foxhunt with the reigning downhill world champion Rachel Atherton delivered.
Red Bull Foxhunt flips the traditional idea of what a fox hunt is, with Atherton assuming the role of the fox as she chases the riders in an all-female DH race. “It’s been a perfect weekend with the sun and the track is perfect, with loads of line choice up there,” said Atherton. “Everyone has really pushed themselves and has massive smiles on their faces
Atherton managed to overtake over 100 of the riders on track to come home in 40th. “It was so cool, what an absolute buzz,” she commented. “Everyone had the best run and when I was coming down I saw all the girls were riding so well. They rode the best they’ve ridden all weekend. The atmosphere at the finish was 100% stoke. We would all go and do it again immediately if we could. Loads of people have stepped up and raised their comfort level so I’m really proud of everyone.”
