Michelin Pro4 Endurance Tyre Review:

Being a keen cyclist throughout my life and having taken part in many bike races, I always admired the performance of the Michelin brand. As I wish to be a part of the sport for as long as I can, I wanted to try the best tyres that money can buy. After many years of cyclists enjoying the benefits from the Pro4 Endurance tyre, it was only recently that I decided to purchase my own.

There are several types of cyclist and I count myself in the category of the Rouleur. The great thing about this tyre is that it is suitable to all riders whether you are a top-end racing cyclist or a leisurely one like myself. By introducing an increased amount of rubber into the kevlar casing, the tyre has become more robust. An example of this is when using it on gritty or potholed roads, you will not see the usual tear along the sidewall. As well as this, the resistance of the puncture has increased. I can confirm this has worked as I have ridden the tyre several times along rough and pot-holed roads without any problems.

The tyre tread is slightly more firm at the rear than the front, which means once you are at speed, the tyre is excellent at removing any bit of water from the track. It has also been proven to help to prevent slipping when cornering at speed. When I was using my old tyres in wet conditions, I could feel my bike was cutting in and out as it tried to get a grasp of the surface. However, with this new tyre, I have had no problems at all and I feel as though all my power is being transferred to the track.

I took part in a 25-mile bike ride, which had sections where you had to climb hills. In previous attempts on other tyres, this always left me feeling as though it was going to be a tough effort. With the Pro4 Endurance, I can ride on some of the most impossible terrains and feel like I am having an easy ride. I am so pleased that I have made the investment in this tyre as it has made taking part in the sport so much more rewarding.

After using a lot of various bike tyres, I decided to make an investment of what I believe to be one of the best and at a very reasonable price. Without paying too much I was able to get the best bike tyre money could buy. I find all bike tyre reviews to be overpriced but I was very impressed with them as they have a nice balance of grip and speed.

There are many sections of road around my area that are very bumpy. This can be very hard on bike tyres and especially on my bike which is not very big. I was worried that after purchasing one of the more expensive bike tyres, that I would be getting a lot of vibrations through my bike, but this wasn’t the case! The Pro4 Endurance is very smooth on the road and doesn’t vibrate at all, even going over the bumpiest terrain. The tyres are a bit slow to gain speed, but I was able to build up speed very easily.

I don’t like very sharp turns or sudden changes in directions, and I had no problems with being able to handle the bike and the tyre. Even going around bends fast and at speed, I was still able to keep control of the bike. This is a big safety feature that I appreciated, as it gave me assurance that even if I got a puncture, I was safe. It is always safer to spend a little more on a tyre, than risk it all on a cheap one.

The tyre has a lot of grip, it is very thick and strong. The pattern on the underside of the tyre is designed to give the most grip and best speed, and I was able to complete my races within the top five because of this. I have had no problems with the tyre at all and it is proven to be really durable. Many bike tyre reviews say that the tyre lasts around 1000 miles but I have only gone through four already, and that is mainly due to the fact that I only ride extra when I can.

I had the tyre fitted to a bike that was very cheap from the local shop. The bike was actually cheap but the tyre made it usable and was much improved. I really don’t see the need to pay extra to get a top spec bike.

The Pro4 Endurance tyre has been a life-saver for me. I have been riding my bike in a lot of rough terrain, and it’s always a risk to get a puncture. On previous occasions, I had found that punctures were the most exasperating thing about the sport, as they would always occur when I was in a hurry.

When I purchased this tyre, I had already put my bike through a lot of rough roads and was having to always check to make sure there were no loud bangs when I was riding. On my first ride with the tyre, I was very relieved to find that punctures in very rocky terrain were a thing of the past. This meant that I could ride my bike more safely and in a lot less stress, knowing that I had the best protection available.

Michelin is reliable and fast, and it is because of their products that I don’t have to spend so much time in the local bike shop. I am one of those cyclists who doesn’t like to drive on two wheels, so I found that having to switch tyres at the earliest sign of damage was really hurting my training performances as well as being a purposeless exercise.

With this tyre, I have been able to do more with my bike, and I am really pleased that I went for the more expensive tyre. The tyre is really good at speed and it gives riders confidence. Not only this, but it is really sturdy so riders won’t have to think about punctures at all. It deserves the Michelin brand, as it gives its name the credibility and status which the people have come to expect.

Negatives:

A couple of negative things I would say are that they aren’t the best choice for the mountain bike as I find they can be slow and as I don’t often use my mountain bike I would just like a sharper feel that would allow me to get up them better. I also find that the price of the tyre is a little more than I would like to pay for one tyre but as I haven’t found a cheaper alternative that is as good, I have just become used to paying more.
