We spent a day on the racetrack with Will Roegge, James Kirkham and his raw spec GT3 to showcase the cinematic capabilities of our Anamorphic Lens Mod.
Will Roegge is an Emmy award winning director of photography who has worked on many car films and commercials including Ken Block’s legendary Gymkhana. James Kirkham is not only a racecar driver, but the co-founder of Race Service—an automotive culture hub and creative agency based out of Los Angeles. James and Race Service developed this 700 horsepower AMG GT3 "Raw Spec" race car directly with Mercedes. The vehicle shows off the raw materials used and finds a blend of fashion and factory materials that make it unique to other racecars that have wraps and paint jobs that cover all the raw materials up.
Roegge captured the epic car with our latest HB-Series Lens, Anamorphic which enables the timeless 21:9 aspect ratio used in feature films. Cinematic, horizontal lens flares stylize the footage, while in-camera “de-squeezing” streamlines editing by eliminating the painstaking post-processing of traditional anamorphic content.
Enjoy this visually stunning piece that brings together automotive performance and professional filmmaking.
