Discover the Story Behind Radnut | Built from the Middle of the Pack

A bike that wasn’t supposed to be ridden.
A jacket bought on commission.
A ski area no one flies in for.

These are the breadcrumbs.

Radnut didn’t begin with a business plan. It began with a borrowed Mongoose Hilltopper, ridden in secret, then replaced by a GT Tequesta bought in a southern Illinois college town. It continued with seasons spent working lifts at Alpine Meadows, long before algorithms told us what gear to buy.

It was shaped by moments like a ride up Lakeview chair at Alpine Meadows with two guys who had just left The North Face to start a company called Mountain Hardwear. The jacket from that conversation? Worn for 25 years.

A Website by Obsession, Not Algorithm

Radnut is a platform for skiing, snowboarding, and mountain biking—but more than that, it’s a mindset. We believe the best gear, places, and stories often live just outside the industry spotlight.

That means:

  • Boutique brands over corporate goliaths.
  • Small resorts over mega-mountains.
  • Content with substance over SEO filler.

We’ve ridden the gear, skied the hills, and put in the miles. We’re not here to chase trends – we’re here to uncover what matters.

What We Cover (and Why)

Our stories are driven by curiosity and clarity. We aim to educate, entertain, and offer something new in every piece.

You’ll find:

  • Profiles of boutique gear brands (Meier, RMU, Stinner)
  • Destination guides for the under-the-radar mountains (Smugglers’ Notch, Revelstoke, Homewood)
  • Editorials rooted in personal history and insider knowledge

Our readers aren’t tourists—they’re participants. Riders, skiers, and adventurers looking for gear that tells a story and stories that go beyond gear.

Where We’re Going

Soon, hopefully, Radnut will become more than a content site. We’re working on building a curated ecommerce platform that connects our readers with the boutique brands we write about. Gear that’s crafted, not churned out. Products you’ll use, remember, and tell stories about.

Expect:

  • Limited-run skis and boards from indie manufacturers
  • Custom frames and components from small-batch bike builders
  • Apparel and accessories that prioritize craftsmanship over clicks

Community First, Always

Our long-term vision is a business shaped by its readers. We want Radnut to be a place where customers become collaborators – invested in the growth and the grit. Not just buyers, but believers.

Radnut isn’t trying to be for everyone. But for those who care about where their gear comes from and why it matters – it’s home.
